Joe's Book of Enchantment
News Apr 12, 2003: New review
available at RPGNow.
Description
When people think of magic they think of the flashy conjurers
and evokers, the versatile transformers and dark necromancers. Few
think
about the enchanters. To be effective with Enchantment requires great
wit and guile. Few adventurers would take an enchanter with them into
dark dungeons: there are too many limits on the school. Until now.
This 66 page PDF contains the usual array of prestige classes,
feats, uses for skills, spells, cleric domains and magic items for an
unusual topic. Each prestige class has a fully developed NPC sample to
provide players with an example of the class in action and DMs with
characters the players can meet.

If you have Version 1.1 (2002/09/25), you
have the latest version. A patch from version 1.0 to 1.1 is available
on
the download page.
Errata to Version 1.1 (2002/09/25)
At the moment, there are no plans to patch this version due to the
minimimal nature of the known flaw.
Typos and rules errors:
- pg 55: In the ranger spell list for Marsa, the first level
spell resist elements, the inital r should be italicized along with the
rest of the spell name.
Errata to Version 1.0 (2002/08/08)
The errata below only applies to version 1.0 of Joe's Book of
Enchantment. Aside from including the errata below, Chapter 5: New
Spells in version 1.1 has been repaginated so that there are no more
orphan spell titles at the bottom of a page with the next page starting
with Level:
Typos and rules errors:
- pg 5. The page number 63 should not be bold under alchemy.
- pg 6. The last example of moderate complexity level under
the Perform skill should read: “composing music for a quartet.”
- pg 8. The spellcaster level prerequisite for Craft Token
should be 1st level.
- pg 9. The spellcaster level prerequisite for Craft Token
should be 1st level.
- pg 18. Under Class Skills the first paragraph should say
“The fear eater’s....”
- pg 22. Under Class Features of the Hand of Jherana add this
paragraph after the first paragraph: “Hit Die: d8.”
- pg 29. Isolation/paranoia has no summary entry. It should
read: “Isolation/Paranoia. Subject suffers AC penalty unless at least
10
feet separate him from all others.”
- pg 43 In the first paragraph of the Magic Item Abilites
section, the last sentence is missing a "the" between "for" and "item".
- pg 46. Under Locked Bracelets, the fourth word of the last
sentence in the second paragraph should be “the”.
- pg 47. In the Dissenter heading, under Special Attacks
change Charisma drain to Charisma damage. Under Feats change Ability
Focus (Charisma Drain) to Ability Focus (Charisma Damage).
- pg 48. In the Dissenter Combat section, Change Charisma
Drain feature to Charisma Damage. The second sentence under this
feature
should begin “With a successful melee touch attack, ....”
- pg 48. In the Meadow Nymph Combat section, add this
sentence to the end of the second paragraph: “Meadow nymphs are more
interested in keeping their meadow safe than blinding their opponents.
They do not use the smoke cloud version of pyrotechnics since their own
movement helps dissipate the cloud.” Note: This change results in the
Mountain Nymph being repaginated to the next page completely.
- pg 53. In the list of campaign non-specific places Corradon
is a kingdom, not a kindom.
- pg 61. Under Walt “the Wall”, in the last sentence of the
second paragraph, “roll” should be “role.”
- pg 65. There is an extra period at the end of the last
sentence of printing this PDF section. Remove it.
The named spells were renamed to comply with the d20 license. These
changes are as follows:
- pg 16. Requirements for Disenchanter class refer to Morden's
Disjunction
- pg 22. Under Fey Artefact, the last sentence of the first
paragraph: Oto's irresistible dance.
- pg 40. Thrall can be dispelled by Morden's disjunction.
- pg 46. The Lute of Confusion can generate Tashaa's
hideous laughter and requires that said spell is known by its
creator.
- pg 58. Ghedrian's 8th level spell list includes: Oto's
irrestistable dance.9th level spell list includes: Bigsby's
crushing hand and Morden's disjunction.
- pg 61. Mazir's 2nd level spell list includes Tashaa's
hideous laughter.
- pg 64. Morden's disjunction gains the dispel spell
descriptor. Leomand's secret chest gains the ethereal spell
descriptor.
